Two Sevenoaks Sixth Formers have completed an extraordinary fundraising challenge, each swimming 33 kilometres (the equivalent of the English Channel) in a single continuous session to support global rainforest conservation efforts.
On Saturday, Frederik and Chengze undertook the demanding swim in the Sennocke Centre pool, demonstrating exceptional endurance, determination, and commitment to their cause.
The event drew strong support from the school community, with staff and students in attendance to cheer them on. In a particularly moving moment, three student supporters (and Chengze!) joined Frederik in the water to accompany him through the final kilometres of his swim.
To date, the pair have raised an impressive £8500 for the Rainforest Trust, an international charity dedicated to protecting threatened tropical forests and endangered wildlife. The funds will contribute to conservation projects in Ecuador, Uganda, and other regions around the world. This cause holds deep personal significance for both students, who spent their formative years in countries supported by the Rainforest Trust.
Huge congratulations to Frederik and Chengze on this remarkable achievement and thank you to all those who supported the event.
Donations can still be made via their website.
