Sailing
Sevenoaks School had 14 sailors racing at the RS Feva Worlds ranging from Year 9 to Year 11.
The majority of other school teams qualified in Bronze fleet whereas we had one boat in Gold, four in Silver and two in Bronze. The regatta was held over five consecutive days with 13 races. The regatta was split into two stages, days one and two were the qualifying days, four races to rank the teams from 1-211. Days three, four and five were the championship racing days with nine races held across three days.
The sailing conditions were fantastic! The boats were fully powered up, sailing at full speed in wind ranges from 8- 25 knots and up to 1m high waves.
The regatta provided a fantastic experience for all that are involved and creates sailing memories that will last a lifetime. The sailors performance shows the strength and depth of the sailing programme unique to Sevenoaks school. The students have all grown from this amazing experience both on and off the water, sailing skills have been tested and they were able to compete against the best in the world in their age group, as well as make friends with sailors from other countries.
