Sevenoaks Family of Schools
Our stories
Learning and growing together
The Sevenoaks Family of Schools creates opportunities for pupils and staff to learn from one another, share expertise and build meaningful connections.
These stories highlight how collaboration across our schools is enriching educational experiences, developing character and leadership, and strengthening a shared sense of community through enrichment, service and partnership initiatives.
beyond the classroom
Years 7 and 8 pupils from the Sevenoaks Family of Schools came together for a shared Enrichment Week held at Sevenoaks School during the summer term.
Centred on the theme of Meaning and Purpose, the programme encouraged students from Sevenoaks, Solefield and Bickley Park School to collaborate, explore new interests and challenge themselves through a diverse range of activities.
Highlights included drama workshops, a cooking challenge, nature escape experiences, archery, Quidditch, self-defence tasters, debating workshops and the powerful Desperate Journeys empathy project, alongside an inspiring resilience talk from an Olympic gold medallist.
A shared love of reading
Reading has the power to spark curiosity, build confidence and open doors to new ideas. Within the Sevenoaks Family of Schools, pupils are helping to foster a culture where reading is shared, valued and enjoyed.
A dedicated service group from Sevenoaks School has been working with younger pupils at Solefield, providing regular reading support each Thursday afternoon. Sixth Form students read alongside pupils, listen to them read aloud and offer encouragement and guidance, helping to develop confidence, fluency and enjoyment while building positive relationships across the two schools.
Service in Action
A key strength of the Sevenoaks Family of Schools is the opportunity for students to learn from and support one another. Through meaningful acts of service, older students can share their skills and experience while younger pupils benefit from additional encouragement and inspiring role models.
Lower Sixth students from Sevenoaks School volunteer at Solefield, supporting a range of co-curricular clubs before school and during lunchtime. Working alongside staff, they help deliver football, netball, cricket and debating sessions, bringing enthusiasm, expertise and energy to each activity.
“Educating for Meaning and Purpose focuses on the ‘why’ of learning, and encourages students to engage independently, as well as apply knowledge more effectively – both of which are increasingly important in our technology-driven world.
