Congratulations to our Sixth Form students on receiving an excellent set of offers from world-class universities. Our 252 applicants have received over 500 offers from UK universities to date.

Twenty-seven students received offers from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, 17 from Oxford and 10 from Cambridge, with one awarded an organ scholarship at Christ Church, Oxford.

There have been a significant number of offers from some of the top London universities, including 51 from KCL and 23 from UCL, plus impressive numbers from Exeter (58), Bristol (47), Warwick (42), Durham (40), Edinburgh (37) and St Andrew’s (23). These are outstanding achievements in an extremely competitive admissions environment.

We have also had some superb US Early Decision and international offers. Many Sevenoaks pupils continue to apply abroad, and to date over 60 students have already made applications for universities in Canada, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Europe (France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Switzerland), or to cross-continent dual degrees.

Five have already received offers from the University of Bocconi in their first round, and students have also received offers from universities in Canada including McGill, the University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia, as well as  in Europe at EHL (Switzerland) and the American University of Paris (France), and from Japan (Keio University) and from the University of Hong Kong. Some of these offers include a scholarship.

To date 22 students have received offers for the US in early rounds, including five offers from the University of Southern California, two each from Cornell, New York University, Babson College and Villanova, and offers from Dartmouth, the University of Pennsylvania, Berklee College of Music, Rhode Island School of Design, Middlebury College, Rice University, Tufts University, the University of Michigan, Tulane University, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Clemson University, Drexel University, Temple University, Union College and the University of South Carolina.

We are very pleased to see one student heading to Cornell to join their swim team. With more having applied to the US, we look forward to hearing their Early Decision 2 and Regular round outcomes over the coming weeks. Other international offers are still being released. Our students make multiple applications to UK, US and international universities and we encourage them to pursue courses that are the best fit for them.

The Headmaster, Jesse Elzinga, said, ‘Many congratulations go to our Upper Sixth, who have worked hard and achieved tremendous success in a highly competitive field.

‘We are delighted that world-leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy League, continue to show support for the IB Diploma programme by offering our students places to read a wide range of subjects, including Medicine, Maths, Science and many combined honours and liberal arts courses.

‘We believe that the IB, with its academic rigour, breadth, depth and emphasis on independent research, is an excellent preparation for higher education. Sevenoaks students continue to achieve at a very high level when they move on to university, and beyond.’
