Well done to Anthony Hu who has achieved the National Award for being the best participant from United Kingdom in the International Youth Math Challenge 2023. He achieved outstanding results throughout the tournament despite very fierce competition.
Anthony was among a large groups of Sevenoaks students to take part in the challenge. The first round involved solving some tricky problems to demonstrate a certain level of mathematical ability. Twenty-six students from Sevenoaks qualified through this round and made it to the pre-final where students must solve some difficult and abstract problems. Seventeen students qualified for the final round which is a fast exam where each problem must be solved in 60 seconds.
Overall Anthony dropped only two marks in the entire competition, achieving the highest score of all UK entries and narrowly missing out on the top score globally. Well done!
