Athletics
Congratulations to Harriet Medlen who won the South of England U17 200m championships, a brilliant achievement.
Congratulations also to Anne-Sophie Bremens on winning both the 400m and 800m at the Belgium regional championships.
Cross country
Well done to all students who ran in the Senior Knole Run on Saturday and thanks to everyone involved in making this such a successful event. It was the 48th Knole Run and marks 50 years since Sevenoaks School founded and first hosted the event in 1973. Results will be shared tomorrow.
Hockey
On Thursday and Friday our U16 and U18 indoor hockey sides represented the school at the national finals in Repton. The U16s progressed to the semi-finals where they were knocked out by a strong Repton side. The U18s had a superb day, demonstrating determination and finesse from the very outset, progressing to the final where they narrowly lost out to Repton on sudden death penalty shuffles.
Congratulations to Victoria Kern who played hockey for U14 UK Lions this academic year. Just before Christmas, she had a fantastic time playing for them near Barcelona against Atletic Terrassa.
On Saturday, Amber Croll, Bella Munoz and Summer Knight-Thompson were crowned U16 club indoor champions with HC Knole Park while Annabel Cheveley also represented HC Knole Park in the national league division 1 indoor (adults). On Sunday it was role reversal as Annabel was crowned an U18 club indoor champion with HC Knole Park, while Bella and Summer travelled to represent the national league division 1 (adults) side on the second day of the competition. The club national league side finished third overall.
Well done to Danny Basset and Harry Scott who also also had success at the national indoors final, representing Sevenoaks HC and finishing fifth.
Shooting
We have a number of shooting congratulations and achievements for the academic year to date.
The 100 Club recognises the achievements of those students who have shot a perfect card on 25yard (10-bull), 50m or 100yard. After not having any 100/100 for over a year, three students have worked hard and achieved this difficult feat. Congratulations to:
50m:
- Rafe Wormsley (BSSRA Schools Winter Championships – Series 3)
- Helen Otto (BSSRA Schools Winter Championships – Series 4)
25 Yard 10-Bull:
- Yaro Bobko (Kent Junior Team – Round 6)
At the Kent Schools Friendly last term, both Sevenoaks A and B teams prevailed over our close neighbour Tonbridge School, with the highest score of the day going to Alex Fleming.
At the English Schools’ Championship, our team did brilliantly. All eight Sevenoaks team members showed a mature attitude and worked together. Particular congratulations to Alex Fleming, Helen Otto and Rafe Wormsley on their placings.
At the British Schools Winter Championships we had more impressive results:
- Alex Fleming finished 5th overall with 387/400 – only 2 points from 1st place.
- Helen Otto joined Alex in the top 10, finishing 8th with 386/400.
- The Sevenoaks A quartet finished in bronze medal position (Alex Fleming, Helen Otto, Yaro Bobko, Rafe Wormsley)
- The Sevenoaks A octet finished in 4th place (Alex Fleming, Helen Otto, Yaro Bobko, Rafe Wormsley, Stein Russell-Jones, Conrad Scheibye, Sasha Woodruff, Emily Chiaia-Miller)
- In the junior pairs, Emily and Stein finished 9th, and Sasha and Conrad 11th
- In the senior pairs, Helen and Rafe finished 7th and Yaro and Alex 10th.
Massive congratulations to Helen and Rafe as the only shooters from any school to score a perfect 100/100.
Swimming
At the Kent Schools’ swimming championships, our girls’ team finished second overall and our boys’ finished fifth.
Over Christmas, Eva Okaro swam in a British Swimming/Home Nations competition in Ontario, Canada. She came home with one gold (50FC) and two silvers (100FC/50 Fly).
