On 4 October, we held the annual SingOFF competition. Eleven students from Year 8 to Upper Sixth sang in front of a panel of four judges and a sold-out audience. A live band playing the bass, guitar, and drums, as well as Mr Palmer and Miss Eccleshall on the piano, accompanied the singers.
Mr MacBain, Mrs Mylod, Ms Troletti and Dr McKeating judged the amazing singers, and in the intermission, both the judges and the audience voted for their favourite performance. The judges noted the immense difficulty in deciding the winners as all the performances were outstanding.
Simona Dell (Lower Sixth), who sang ‘I Have Nothing’ by Whitney Houston, came in third place. Octavia Grassby, (Upper Sixth) came in second, singing ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. Seia Yano (Lower Sixth) won the competition with an original song titled ‘I’ll See You Home’ while also playing piano accompaniment. Well done to everyone who auditioned and sang in the competition!
We raised over £2500 for a charity called ENGin, who aims to connect Ukrainian students with English students through English lessons.
