As ever, this year’s Dance Show was a tremendous success, with styles ranging from Bollywood, ballet, Japanese-pop, lyrical, Chinese traditional, jazz and more! Each performer worked incredibly hard for months with rigorous preparation, determination and creativity to bring character and depth to the stage. Vibrant costumes, bold stage make-up and intricately styled hair brought another layer of visual impact and expression under the beaming lights. We conveyed emotional meanings, passion, culture and energy through the art of movement.
This was my last Sevenoaks Dance Show after seven years, and it was a brilliant way to finish with a bang. My self-choreographed solo, ‘Endometriosis En Pointe’, amplified the voices of women living with endometriosis, reflecting my work in founding Lunar Riality to improve female healthcare.
A massive thank you goes to Mrs Rhatigan and Miss Karl for always putting in so much effort to keep the Dance Show thriving, along with our Lower Sixth organisers and the rest of the technician team. As I leave the Upper Sixth, I hope to be in the audience next year for the first time!
Ria, Upper Sixth
