This year’s edition of Verve, the school’s creative writing magazine, is a wonderful celebration of creativity across all year groups of the school.
Back in October, a group of Lower Sixth students met together to establish the 2025 Verve editing team. Their first job was to launch this year’s publicity campaign and to provide a series of creative writing prompts linked to their chosen theme of transformation. Throughout the year, the magazine has been a student led project. The group ran creative writing competitions for students in Years 7 to 9 and the winners of these competitions have been recognised in the magazine. They chose the final pieces from a competitive field of submissions, displaying these through an arresting design and layout.
Congratulations go to all involved – both writers and the editing team. It is a great achievement and stands as a testament to the enduring power of language to give voice to our shared experiences. As the foreword to the 2025 edition of the magazine reminds us: ‘The selected works reflect the ways in which change shapes the world around us, and ourselves’.
