Frequently Asked Questions
When are the next Open Mornings & Group Visits?
What are Group Visits?
These are for families interested in 11+, 13+ or Sixth Form entry. The programme includes a short presentation from the Headmaster, time for questions and a tour of the campus. Boarding tours are also available. These take place during term-time, usually on Saturdays, so that visitors can experience a normal school day. Please note that teachers will not be available to discuss one-to-one questions, as they will be on teaching duty.
What happens at the summer Open Morning?
As well as a presentation and campus tour, there is usually a chance to meet Heads of Departments and other senior staff. This Open Morning is suitable for those interested in Year 7, Year 9 or Sixth Form entry and is usually a popular, busy event. Classrooms will be open with departmental staff and students available.
Is there a programme of events or can I arrive at any time during the morning?
There is a programme and we advise that you arrive for the first session, as this is the main presentation. Details will be available on the Visit Us pages during the weeks before an event. Where possible, we also send a reminder email to those who have booked.
What time does it end?
Usually these events are over by 12.30pm.
Do I need to book?
We would be grateful if you would book so that we know how many visitors to expect. Please complete a booking form (usually published a few months before an event), linked from the Visit Us page.
Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome, but as a guideline we suggest the Open Mornings and Group Visits are most suitable for those in Year 4 and above. The mornings include a presentation of 20-30 minutes. There is no separate programme for very young children.
Is there parking at the school?
Parking is usually available, signposted from the A225 (Tonbridge Road). For directions to the school, click on the 'Find Us' link at the bottom of the page. Parking may be limited during wet weather.
Is there disabled access?
The school campus is adapted for disabled access, with disabled parking available in our Duke's Meadow car park. Please let us know if you require disabled parking closer to the centre of campus. Any prospective parent who requires wheelchair access when they visit the school is encouraged to contact the Admissions department in advance.
I cannot attend on any of these days. Can I visit at another time?
Yes. Individual visits are available by appointment with the relevant registrar throughout the year during term time:
11+/13+ Admissions: Mrs Catherine Taylor, +44 (0)1732 467703
Sixth Form Admissions: Mrs Emily Smith, +44 (0)1732 467713
Alternatively we offer virtual events, the details of which you can find here.
