A group of Year 8 and Year 9 students went to Chinatown in London to explore Westminster Chinese Library as well as enjoy an authentic Cantonese meal.

The Dining Hall was decorated in red and served a delicious Chinese New Year themed menu. Outside, a lion dance was performed and cheered on by students and staff alike.

Cooking sessions took place in boarding houses where students enjoyed dumplings and tangyuan.

Different year groups had assemblies on how to read Chinese paintings demonstrating some of the differences between the East and the West, not just in art, but in way of thinking.

Guest speaker James Trapp, who is an expert in Chinese language, art and history, talked to Middle School students about the connection between the East and West throughout history via artifacts.

Sixth Form students who are studying Mandarin appreicated the beauty of modern and classical Chinese poems through translation.

We hope everyone all those celebrating the Lunar New Year in our community have a wonderful new year full of joy and positivity!
