From 4–7 July, 29 KAN students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts stayed at Sevenoaks School. We were thrilled to also be able to invite the Aspire cohorts, meaning that in total fifty-two students attended, the highest number ever to attend a KAN summer residential event.
According to student feedback, highlights were a talk by Jonas Andrew-Phillip, the workshops at the Courtauld with the National Gallery, sessions with 2-3 degrees, and making friends. There were some very sweet moments during the week, such as students and mentors having an impromptu karaoke session in the boarding house and students making TikTok dances together on the last day. Other sessions on other during the event were law workshops with Thackray Williams, visiting ‘China’s Hidden Century’ at the British Museum, mentoring and time to work on their summer projects.
The best thing about the residential was how we made friends and how it gave me ideas about what to do to get into university.
