Raising Confident and Resilient Teenagers
Join Dr Bettina Hohnen, Clinical Psychologist and Associate Fellow (Hon) at University College London, for an engaging and practical talk on raising confident, resilient teenagers. Drawing on her clinical expertise, Bettina will explore what it really takes to help young people thrive – including how to hold high expectations while creating the warm, supportive environment children need to grow.
She will cover key themes including frustration tolerance, emotional regulation, and the power of intentional day-to-day communication, showing how small shifts in how we parent teenagers can make a significant difference to our relationship with them, and to their confidence and emotional wellbeing. Parents will leave with practical strategies they can use straight away to support their teen through both the rewarding and challenging moments of adolescence.
Her books, The Incredible Teenage Brain: everything you need to know to unlock a teen’s potential, 2019 and How to Have Incredible Conversations With Your Child, 2021, explore how to create an environment that balances the need to protect young people and provide fertile ground for growth and development. Bettina is the mother of two children, now in their early twenties.
