In the fifth in our series of teachers’ concerts, seasoned comperes Mr de May and Tina Argent welcomed musicians and dancers from nearly every department to the stage.
They entertained an enthusiastic audience with music ranging from Mozart and Poulenc to Johnny Mathis, Oasis and Taylor Swift. Popular numbers included an Abba medley with a huge dance troupe, a duet from Aladdin, a barbershop quartet paying tribute to the late Brian Wilson with ‘God Only Knows’, rock band The Shady Teachers and some fabulous solos. Shout-out to Dr Ives for her rewrite of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, performed spectacularly by a mass choir, and a special mention to Ms Eilert, who had taught herself the mandolin in a matter of weeks to accompany her own exquisite performance of ‘Deh, vieni alla finestra’.
The evening couldn’t have been such a success without the support of some amazing instrumentalists, in particular Mr Rands-Webb, Mr Palmer, Mr Beston, Mr Harvey and Mr Bassett. In total over £2500 was raised for Mind. Huge thank you to Mr Smith for organising this fantastic event.
