Sevenoaks School was delighted to welcome Rebekah Westphal, Associate Director of International Admissions from Yale, to speak at Sevenoaks on 28 September.
Rebekah has ten years’ experience in admissions. She gave an outstanding presentation on the US University Application Process followed by a question and answer session. The evening was very well attended with approximately 170 guests including Sevenoaks students, parents and students from local schools. Topics covered ranged from choosing the right university to making the application. Details of the new-style SAT were introduced, and she also explained the timeline of the application process, how the application is viewed by admissions officers and how to meet the costs through scholarships or needs-based funding.
The evening was hugely informative and it was clear by the end of the presentation that applying to the US university system, whilst a time-consuming process, can lead to the rewarding experience of studying in a very broad and stimulating learning environment.
