In the 2019-20 academic year, the Higher Education department supported successful applications by 224 students to universities in the UK, USA, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong. An outstanding 92 per cent are progressing to their first choice university.
Of Old Sennockians starting higher education this year, 21 per cent are going on to study at top universities in the United States, Europe and other international destinations. This is an impressive number; of all students at ISC schools, only some five per cent choose to study overseas.

UK
Of those students studying in the UK, 83 per cent are going to Oxford, Cambridge, London colleges or Russell Group universities, with Durham, UCL and Exeter the three most popular destinations. Twenty students will be studying at UCL, 17 at Exeter, 19 at Durham, 11 at Cambridge, 17 at Oxford, 10 at KCL, 12 at Imperial College, 9 to Bath and eight at Edinburgh.
US and Canada
Thirty-eight students are taking up university places in the United States, or Canada including four to the University of Chicago, three to Stanford, four to UCLA, three to UC Berkeley, three to Dartmouth, one to each of Yale, Harvard, UPenn, Brown, and three to the joint degree programme at William & Mary with St Andrews. A further two will go to McGill, and two to Sciences Po-Columbia joint degree and one to the World Business Degree (joint across Bocconi, the University of Southern California and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology).
Around the world
A further nine students are entering a university in Europe or Hong Kong.
Disciplines
In the highly competitive fields of Medicine and Veterinary Science, 14 students are taking up places for Medicine (12), and Veterinary Science (1) and Dentistry (1).
Of Old Sennockians starting university this year, 53 per cent will take degrees in the Arts and Humanities; 30 per cent will study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects, and 17 per cent Liberal Arts and Combined programmes, in the UK and in the USA.
Studies for these interdisciplinary degrees, often covering both the Arts and the Sciences, fit very well with the breadth of IB studies undertaken at Sevenoaks.
