The Lent term charity concert, held on the 13 March, was an unforgettable evening filled with exceptional performances that celebrated music from around the world.
Simona (L6) opened the evening with a captivating performance of ‘Pasilyo’ in Tagalog, setting the tone for a night filled with energy. Highlights included Sofiia’s (Y10) Ukrainian ballad ‘Cry’ and the lively rendition of ‘Africa’ by the Mavericks (Y8), which had the audience clapping along.
A particularly touching performance was by Zhami (L6), who chose to perform her song in the dark as a poignant way to connect the experience of blindness with the theme of the concert. This gesture resonated with the audience, bringing a moment of reflection on the cause we were supporting.
The concert raised over £500 which will go towards Mariana de Jesus, a school for blind children in Quito, Ecuador. The funds raised will help provide essential Braille books and teaching materials, ensuring their access to education and improved autonomy.
A heartfelt thank you to all the performers; Mr Palmer, who made the event possible; our wonderful hosts Leo and Daniel (L6); Finlay and Freya (L6), who helped organise; and everyone who attended and supported the event.
