The Choral Music at Sevenoaks concert showcased every choir in a celebration of musical theatre.

The Junior Chamber choir opened the concert with a medley of legendary musical theatre pieces. The house band accompanied, featuring an amazing drum solo by Eloise Halban Taylor during ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’. The medley included songs from La La Land, Six and West Side Story, all arranged by My Dyer.

The Senior Girls’ Choir followed with a Wicked medley, complete with green lighting and accessories. Led by Ms Day, they performed hits such as ‘One Short Day’, ‘For Good’ and (of course) ‘Defying Gravity’, receiving rapturous applause from the audience.

Ms Day continued to conduct as she led Chorus in a performance of ‘Into the Woods’, including princes, a red riding hood and, of course, a cackling evil villain. The students used costumes, props and their acting skills to bring the musical to life.

The Year 7 choir took to the stage next, performing a medley of songs from the hit musical Hamilton. Mr Harvey led the choir and the brilliant band, who together gave a powerful and dynamic performance.

The Sennocke Consort opened the second half with a medley from The Greatest Showman and a breathtaking performance of the ‘Tonight (Quintet)’ from West Side Story.

Choral Society were the last to perform, but by no means least! They were joined by the Parents’ and Friends’ Choir to form the largest ensemble of the evening. They performed a beautiful Les Misérables medley, expertly conducted by Mr Harvey.

Finally, the Year 7 singers returned to the stage, joining Choral Society and Parents’ and Friends’ Choir for one final number. Brass players lined the back of the stage and the house band played their final encore as the choir performed ‘Everybody Needs Somebody’. Alex Corti delivered the iconic opening speech and the Pamoja Hall was filled with the sound of the Blues Brothers as the concert came to a close.

It’s safe to say the concert was a roaring success, and we are so proud of everyone who was involved.
