About the course

There are two pre-IB maths courses, one for current Year 11 students wishing to study HL Analysis and Approaches and one for current Year 11 students wishing to study HL Applications and Interpretations. Both will cover similar material; however, the mathematical approach will differ depending on the course. Students are advised to have a GDC to help them best prepare and get the most out of these courses.

These courses are not aimed at students who have already completed an Additional Maths course.

Classes start at 09:00 on each course day and conclude at 16:15 on the first day of the course. There is an hour for lunch (provided as part of the cost) in the middle of each day, as well as morning and afternoon breaks.

The syllabus of the Pre-IB Maths Analysis Course and the Pre-IB Maths Applications covers similar topics. However, the teaching and learning approach is different.

You should choose one 3-day Pre-IB Maths Analysis Course OR one 3-day Pre-IB Maths Applications Course.

Use of School Facilities

Whether as a residential or day student, those attending the course(s) will have access to some of the school’s outstanding facilities, including the athletics track, tennis nets,  five-a-side football pitches , volleyball and basketball courts. There is a wide expanse of school playing fields on the main school campus.

Students will be accommodated in one of the school’s boarding houses. All residents will be accommodated in single or twin bedrooms where there will be facilities to study in the evening. A member of the school’s academic boarding staff will be on duty during the course and be responsible for residents. Breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and an evening meal will be provided in the school’s central dining room.

Please note that it may be necessary for students to share accommodation although, if a single is requested, these will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
