This is the first year we took part in the HSBC/British Council Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition. There were over 90 pupils from secondary schools across the country competing at the grand final at British Museum. In the Individual section, contestants give a short presentation in Mandarin, translate sentences from English into Mandarin and are tested on their knowledge of China and Chinese culture.

Capucine Cogné impressed everyone highly with her linguistic skills and won the third prize. This is an amazing achievement considering Capucine has learned Mandarin two years’ less than other candidates.
