On Saturday 20 June, Sevenoaks hosted 40 keen young creative writers from local primary schools. The Year 5 children came in and enjoyed a workshop designed to stimulate exciting creative writing about motion.
Year 8 students from Sevenoaks School led some excellent starter activities, including a game of animal charades where they managed to get Miss Ventress lying on the floor pretending to be a snake, and a highly popular water balloon popping exercise that prompted a wealth of similes and metaphors. Watching a slow motion video of a cheetah helped to generate lots of creative phrases for the children’s word banks.
Then the Sevenoaks students helped the primary children to develop their ideas and they wrote some spectacular pieces of creative writing, which were shared at the end. Well done to all who participated!
