Winter Party for refugees

Sevenoaks students and staff were delighted to host the third annual Winter Party in partnership with Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees which was a heart-warming success.

Over 50 children and their parents attended the festive event in the Dining Hall, which was organised by the Refugee Partnerships Service group with the help of boarding students and staff. The students set up the Dining Hall with games and home baked goodies and, while the parents had a chance to relax and chat over tea, coffee and cake, the children joined in the many different activities and games like biscuits decorating, Musical Chairs, Pass the Parcel, Jenga and ‘Guess the Number of Sweets’. There was even a special visit from Santa who arrived to deliver small gifts to some very excited children.

George and Maggie, our Sixth Form student leads, shared the joy they felt hearing all the laughter and seeing the children make lasting memories. They thank SWR for their support and for partnering with the school to establish this cherished tradition.

Homa, volunteer lead at Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees, said “It was so lovely to see all the children having an amazing fun time and the parents socialising together. Everyone had a wonderful time and I have had several messages of thanks”.
