This year, students from Year 11, Lower and Upper Sixth produced the school’s most successful ever results in the UK Chemistry Olympiad.
Students received 19 bronze, 16 silver and four gold certificates. It was particularly noteworthy that Year 11 students accounted for three bronze and seven silver awards; a phenomenal result given the Olympiad is intended for Upper Sixth students.
The loudest praise must go to Bolun Zhang (Upper Sixth) who finished third nationally in a field of just under 15,000 participants.
Designed to challenge and inspire, the UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO) is a unique opportunity for students to push themselves further and excel in the chemistry field. Budding chemists develop critical problem-solving skills, learn to think more creatively and get a chance to test their knowledge in new, real-world situations.
