The Geography Department organised an event called The Poverty Trap which took place in Enrichment Week. The aim was to provide a hands on experience of what it is like to be part of the half of our world’s population who live on less than $2 a day. Our Year 10 students worked in family units to produce paper bags in order to simply survive. They were challenged to work out how to protect their families from disease, and to try to offer some education to help lift them out of the cycle of poverty. A very enriching experience for all.
