Cross country

A cold, but mercifully dry afternoon saw some great runs from Sevenoaks athletes at South London Harriers Secondary Schools Races on Farthing Downs, with Eva Mathew, Alex Evans and Edo Leone all winning their races and our U14 girls winning the team event.

Fencing

Seb Silva won gold at the U16 Sabre South East championships at Whitgift. He beat strong opposition from Whitgift and a handful of fencers from Tonbridge. He now moves forward to the British Championship in May.

Amelie Tsang represented Great Britain at the European Championships Cadet (U17 foil) in Porec, Croatia. She finished 37th out of 94 fencers having lost her fight 14-15 against the Polish number 1.

Football

Well done to the Sevenoaks boys for fighting right to the end of the game at the Kent Schools FA U13 small schools (under 50 boys in a year) final, and well done to the worthy winners, Hurstmere.

Hockey

Good luck to our U16s competing at the Tier 3 National Hockey finals on Tuesday.

Saturday was a super day for alumni Grace Annetts and Orissa Welsh (OS 2019) representing Oxford in the 120th Oxford vs Cambridge Hockey Varsity Match. It was a great game and finished 3-3 so went to penalty shuffles. Unfortunately it was not Oxford’s day to win and they came off second – but the girls played brilliantly!

Congratulations to Sevenoaks teacher Sarah Eversfield on her appointment by England Hockey as Manager of the Saxon Tigers squad for the Futures Cup 2020. Futures Cup is the tournament for the best young players in the country, where players are selected for the U16 and U18 England squads.

Netball

Eleanor Allen has played for Telstars in the U16 London and South East Regional Netball League. Yesterday was the last round of the competition, and they finished second in the league (played 14, won 12) and have qualified for the national finals.

Good luck to our players competing in the county tournament this week.

Swimming

At the prestigious Weald and Downland Trophy gala, the U18 and U16 boys won their competitions while the U14 boys and U18/U16/U14 girls finished second. Thank you to Sevenoaks staff involved in hosting the event.

Other news

We enjoyed another fantastic afternoon of netball at our U9 prep school tournament. Congratulations to the winners, The Granville School, and thank you to our staff for organising the event.

We also supported the rainbow laces campaign at the weekend, a fantastic initiative.
