The senior boys tennis team have qualified for the Aegon Team Tennis Schools National Championship finals, after beating Bede’s School in the regional finals this week.

The team of Liam van den Hoek (captain), Oscar Gordon-Reid, Russell Lam and Alex Lenhart put in a fantastic, gutsy performance to take Bede’s to a shootout. Liam led by example and won his singles but unfortunately Oscar, Russell and Alex lost theirs, making the score 3-1 to Bede’s after all four singles matches.

The boys then took to the court to play their doubles. Liam and Oscar won comfortably but Russell and Alex took theirs to a third set tiebreak which they eventually won 11-9. With the scores tied at 3-3 Liam and Russell took to the court once again, to play in the shootout to determine the overall winner. Both gave it their all and came out with a 10-8 victory – nationals here we come! The finals will be held at Queenswood School, Hertfordshire, in July.

The girl’s team of Josephine Hogh (captain), Cathrine Hogh, Ellie Knox and Anna King also played an exceptionally strong team from Bede’s School in the regional final but despite giving it their all, they lost 4-2.
