Rock the House Down

Share article:

The Rock the House Down charity concert on the 19 November featured performers across all age groups. From the Mavericks (a Year 8 band) to a wonderful duet from Simona Dell (L6) and Gabriel Muchoki (Y11), and even a performance by the Shady Teachers, which was a crowd favourite to say the least.

What made the concert special, though, was its focus on live music and the atmosphere built by the performers and audience alike. Krish Misra and James Ellershaw (both U6) brought the show to life with their captivating audience interaction segments, and the finale band, comprising musicians from different groups throughout the show, closed the concert in the best way we could’ve ask for.

Rock the House Down, along with the Big Sleepout held last month, is part of a collective student-led initiative Project Ohana to raise funds and awareness for youths facing homelessness in Kent, and this is done in partnership with a charity called Porchlight. Bringing in over £3,800 in total, the funds will go towards supporting youths facing homelessness and struggling with their mental health, in the hopes of making their lives a little better in any way that we can.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the show, to all the performers and staff involved backstage, and to Mim from Porchlight who came down to support us, it means more than you know.

Rae-En Lim, U6
