Music highlights

Since half term there have been many wonderful concerts at The Space, including three Chamber Music Platforms, an Open Musicians’ Platform, a Pianists’ Platform, Musicals for a Cause, and Sevenoaks Swings with guest trumpeter Mike Lovatt, who also led student workshops. 

Catherine Redmayne (U6) coordinated much of our Musicals for a Cause fundraising concert, which showcased a variety of musical numbers from West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Jekyll & Hyde and Waitress, and raised funds for Nordoff Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity which works with those affected by life-limiting illness, isolation or disability. 

Sevenoaks Swings showcased students in the Rollins Ensemble, Jazz Band, Saxophone Mega Band and Wind Band, resulting in a brilliant group performance of the theme from Rocky!

Our last few platform concerts have also celebrated performances from our nationally award-winning chamber groups as well as talented soloists, and many of these also featured in our William Sevenoke Memorial Concert on 21 March. 

Next term there will be performances of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Fauré’s Requiem and the Jazz Club concert.
