The Junior Knole Run will take place on Saturday16 November 2024.

Teams

The race is aimed principally at Years 7 and 8 pupils (or equivalent); Year 9 pupils are not eligible to run (unless they should be in Year 8 by age).

As well as an individual placement, students compete in teams of four for a team placement. If teams do not have four runners for each team then there will be no team placement. There is a maximum 12 runners per race for each school.

The course

The start is a short distance down the valley to the right of the entrance to Knole Park. The course is a mixture of hill and flat, grass and woodland tracks; some sections are likely to be muddy. Spikes/studs will usually be the most appropriate footwear although pupils should bring trainers as well so as to select the most appropriate footwear on the day.

The girls’ course is measures around 2,600m (1.6 miles) and includes one significant hill. The boys’ course adds an additional loop of around 800 metres and is the course is 3,440m long (around 2.1 miles).

Girls’ teams should assemble near the start at 2.00pm for their race to start at 2.15pm. Boys’ teams should assemble after the girls’ start (2.30pm) in order for their race to start at 2:45pm. A warning siren will sound five minutes before each race starts.

Vest numbers contain a chip, so runners must run over the mats at the start and finish to ensure their chip is recorded. The course will be marked by staff, pupils, flags and tape.
