Congratulations to our Sixth Form students on receiving an excellent set of offers from world-class UK, US and international universities.

From Sevenoaks, our 226 applicants have received 470 offers from UK universities to date.

Twenty-seven students received offers from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, 12 from Cambridge and 15 from Oxford, for subjects including Biomedical Engineering, Classics, English, Modern and Medieval Languages, Geography, History, HSPS, Law, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Psychology, Philosophy, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

There have also been 86 offers from some of the top London universities including Imperial, UCL, LSE and KCL, and an impressive number from each of the following universities: Bristol (43), Exeter (41), Warwick (36), Bath (30), Durham (26), Nottingham (23), St Andrews (12) and 17 each from Edinburgh, Manchester and York.

In a challenging and highly competitive admissions climate, these are outstanding achievements.

Many Sevenoaks pupils continue to apply abroad, and to date over 60 students have already made applications for universities in Europe (Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland), Canada, China and Hong Kong, or to cross-continent Dual Degrees. Seven have already received offers from the University of Bocconi in their first round, and students have also received offers from universities in Canada including McGill, the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia and Western University – some with scholarships, as well as in Hong Kong at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. International offers are still being released.

To date 28 students have received offers for the US in early rounds, including three from Yale. Four students have also been admitted to the University of Virginia, three to the University of Chicago, two to Columbia, two to Georgia Institute of Technology, two to the University of Southern California, and two to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Students have also received early offers to Babson, Barnard, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Georgetown, Loyola Marymount, Michigan State (with scholarship), New York University, Syracuse (with scholarship), Tufts, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of Michigan, UPenn, and the University of Richmond. We are also very pleased to see one student heading to Northeastern University in Boston to play hockey. With more having applied to the US, we look forward to hearing their Regular round outcomes over the coming weeks.

The Headmaster, Jesse Elzinga, said, ‘Many congratulations go to our Upper Sixth, who have worked hard and achieved a superb level of success. They have faced an exceptionally high level of competition for places and have received offers from institutions which attract the world’s most talented young people.

‘Every year, Sevenoaks students receive offers for a wide range of subjects, including many combined honours and liberal arts courses, in addition to Maths, Science and Medicine, at world-class universities – proof that universities like the IB Diploma. We believe that the IB, with its academic rigour, breadth, depth and emphasis on independent research, is an excellent preparation for higher education.’
