The EcoCreate service project was set up by five Year 10 students. Their mission is to raise awareness about environmental sustainability more widely in the local community. Each week they teach groups of primary school students in the Sevenoaks library about the environment and their impact through a variety of creative arts activities.
One of the biggest hits wih the young pupils has been making and decorating bird feeders out of recycled plastic bottles, which the children then took home to hang up in their garden. They also created bird houses decorated with natural and recycled items, and created a recycling challenge which engaged local pupils in a quiz about the best items to place into their shopping trollies.
The initiative has receieved a positive response from children and community members.
