Sixth Form Entry

For decades Sevenoaks has been taking a significant number of new students into the Sixth Form, with around 75-80 places available annually. These new students, most of them boarders, many living abroad, make up about a third of the year group and are a vital element in what makes the Sixth Form at Sevenoaks such a vibrant, stimulating community where lifelong friendships are forged. The newcomers are eagerly welcomed into our community by staff and students alike, who relish the fresh energy and perspectives they bring to the cohort. All our Sixth Formers take the IB Diploma – which Sevenoaks has taught since 1978 – giving them a real sense of shared endeavour as well as a rigorous and well-rounded education.

Entry is competitive, and we look for evidence of strong all-round potential. Successful applicants will usually be gaining strong grades in their current school with high predictions for their GCSEs or any equivalent examinations, but sporting, creative and other talents are also important to us, as is open-mindedness, kindness and an eagerness to participate in the many activities Sevenoaks offers.

The deadline for 2023 applications has now passed and we are unable to accept any more applications at this time. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list in case an opportunity becomes available, please email Emily Smith, Sixth Form Registrar (, and include the candidate's most recent school report and a personal statement, written by the candidate, outlining their hobbies and interests. For candidates wishing to apply for 2024, the deadline for applications is 1 August 2023.

If you are considering Sevenoaks for your son or daughter’s Sixth Form, we strongly recommend that you come and visit us. Details about our group visits, open mornings and how to arrange an individual visit can be found here.

All subjects are taught in English at Sevenoaks School.
