Sixth Form Entry
Registration for entry in 2018 has now closed. If you would like your child to be added to the waiting list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with their latest school report and personal statement. We will contact you if we are able to take your application forward.
Sevenoaks has a significant intake into the Sixth Form, with around 75-80 places available annually. Many are attracted by the strength of the school's International Baccalaureate programme, which it has been running for over 30 years. Whilst there are some day places available, the majority are for boarders, and students come from all around the world.
Entry is competitive, and we look for evidence of strong all-round potential. Successful applicants will usually be predicted to gain top grades in most of their GCSEs or equivalent examinations, but sporting, creative or other talents are also important.
If you are considering Sevenoaks for your son or daughter's Sixth Form, we strongly recommend that you come and visit us, either at an open day, or by making an appointment with the Sixth Form Registrar.
All subjects are taught in English at Sevenoaks School. Students must therefore have a high level of fluency in English, both written and spoken: between an Intermediate and Upper Intermediate level, equivalent to between B1 and B2 (CEFR); ALTE level 2/3; or IELTS levels 4.5 to 6. Formal language qualifications are welcomed but not required.
All candidates take entrance tests in English, Maths (with additional 30 minutes for HL candidates), a Critical Thinking Skills test and a fourth test of their choice in one of the Higher Level subjects. Overseas candidates who cannot take the tests at Sevenoaks are expected to arrange invigilation at their current school or their local British Council offices.
Sevenoaks is an academically selective school and does not suit all students. Some of our candidates, particularly those not at UK school or those for whom English is a second language, may wish to have an early indication of their suitability. For these candidates we recommend (but do not require) a diagnostic assessment through UKiset. The scores from this test are automatically forwarded to Sevenoaks if the school is chosen as one of the three preferred choices of the candidate, and the admissions team at Sevenoaks will then be able to give you feedback on the likely suitability of the candidate. To register for UKiset please click here.
