On Friday 6 October we held the annual SingOff concert. Twelve students, from Years 7 to Upper Sixth, sang in front of a panel of four teacher judges and a sold-out audience.

The judges, Miss Hill, Mrs Duran-Oreiro, Mr Taylor, and Mr Savoye, gave feedback after each singer. Some highlights were Miss Hill telling Malachy (Year 9) that she believes he will become famous, and Mr Taylor saying that it is difficult to believe some performers are students rather than professionals. During the intermission, the audience and judges had a chance to vote for their favourite performance.

Our runners-up were Zhamilya Pazylkhair (Year 11) who sang ‘Rise Up’ by Andra Day in third place and Eve Ward and Gemma Bianco (Year 11) who sang ‘Don’t Lose Your Head’ from the musical Six, in second . Zainab Sarfraz (Year 13), who sang ‘From the Start’ by Laufey, was the SingOff winner. Well done to everyone that took part!

The event raised over £3,500 for Awards for Young Musicians, a charity that supports the musical journeys of young musicians from low-income backgrounds. We raised enough to fund four musicians for one year of their musical study.

A huge thank you to the SingOff team and everyone who came to watch for helping us accomplish this.
