Last week for Middle School Charity Week, the Middle School Tutor Groups planned, organised and ran a series of fun events and activities for ways to raise money for the Bridge Trust, which has supported single homeless people in West Kent since 1991. They have helped over 5000 homeless people with advice or accommodation and support and are based in Tunbridge Wells. Money was also raised for the Sumatran Orangutan Society which is run by an Old Sennockian and supports grassroots projects which empower local people to become guardians of the rainforest.
The events included various cake and cheese toastie sales, along with a trail of loose change that ran from Claridge House all the way to the Library. On Wednesday there was a Domino’s alternative pizza lunch and a ‘Fair on the Flat’ where there were several different stalls selling food, crafts and different games to take part in. Additionally a game of five-a-side football was arranged as well as a raffle, where the prize was a spectacular home-made cake by one of the students. All of these events managed to raise over £3,000 which is a fantastic achievement.
