Spanish and Art trip to Picasso exhibition

A group of L6 students studying Spanish and/or Art went to visit the current Picasso Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery on Wednesday 18 January.

This major exhibition was a rare opportunity to see over 80 portraits revealing Picasso’s creative processes, from youthful realism, caricature to later ultra-spontaneous expressionism. It ranged from celebrated masterpieces to privately-owned works being shown in the UK for the first time.

Prior to exploring the exhibition, students received an informative talk from Mr Barratt of the Art Department and Mr Oberti Oddi, Head of Spanish.

Besides the cultural benefits of the trip, Spanish students were given potential inspiration for their IB Written Assignment coursework areas of focus, while Art students were much inspired by the masterpieces they saw, sketching as they went.
