GCSE and IGCSE results 2021

Sevenoaks School again celebrated outstanding GCSE and IGCSE results.

  • 93.8 per cent of all examinations were graded A/A* or 9/8/7.

  • 25 students gained 11 or 12 A*/A or 9/8/7 grades, and a further 109 achieved 10 A*/A or 9/8/7 grades.

These results are in line with the excellent results achieved by our Year 11 students in previous years.

Mr Jesse Elzinga, the Headmaster, said: ‘We are incredibly proud of our students. These excellent results pay testament to their hard work and resilience during an extremely challenging time.’

‘Students took a delayed set of mock exams in March at school and internal Year 11 summer exams which replaced GCSEs and IGCSEs in May. This provided evidence to help award fair and accurate results in the absence of a normal exams session.’

‘We congratulate our students on these results and on their positive attitude and determination throughout the past two years.’

Year 11 results 2020

Sevenoaks School’s GCSE and IGCSE results are in line with outstanding results from previous years and a reflection of the hard work of our students.

  • 94.9% of all examinations were graded A/A* or 9/8/7
  • 27 students gained 11 or 12 A*/A +9/8/7 grades, and further 106 achieved 10 A*/A +9/8/7 grades

We are proud of how all our students responded with incredible resilience during this unusual academic year. We are especially proud of those receiving results after two years of hard work and in the midst of so much uncertainty.

Our students all demonstrated maturity and initiative during the period of distance learning and we wish them every success in their continued education.

Year 11 results 2019

Sevenoaks School celebrated outstanding examination results for Year 11.

This year saw even more subjects moving to the new GCSEs graded 1–9. The highest grade 9 was harder to achieve than the previous A*, in a tougher, revised GCSE exam system.

While for many schools in England most of their GCSEs will be graded 1-9, Sevenoaks School students take a mixture of GCSEs, IGCSEs and SSC (Sevenoaks School Certificate), where many results are still graded A*-G. All students took three separate IGCSE sciences, Mathematics and English Language. We were particularly delighted by the success in our own externally moderated Sevenoaks School Certificate in English Literature, now in its ninth year, and by the results in their fifth awarding year of Art, Drama, Music, Technology (Robotics) and Technology (Visual Communications).

The Acting Head, Theresa Homewood, said, ‘These results are excellent, and a superb achievement for both students and teachers. We are delighted that our students start the IB Diploma Programme with such strong qualifications.’

Summary

Over 87% of all examinations were graded A or A* equivalent
116 students gained nine or more A*/A grades equivalent

Year 11 results 2018

2018 sees the introduction of the new GCSEs graded 1–9. The highest grade 9 was harder to achieve than the previous A*, in a tougher, revised GCSE exam system.

In the four subjects that were graded 1-9 (English, Maths, Latin and Greek), we are delighted that well over half of the grades received were a 9. 92% of the examinations taken by the 150 candidates were awarded A* or A grades (9 to 7 equivalent). 122 students (over 81%) gained 9 or more A* or A grades (9 to 7 equivalent).
