In the last week of the Summer term, a contingent of Year 7 students visited Fishbourne Roman Palace in Sussex.
The pupils had been studying life in Roman Britain and the figure of King Cogidubnus in their Latin lessons, and were keen to see first-hand where he lived. As well as looking and the mosaics and artefacts found by archaeologists and the reconstructed palace gardens, they also took part in a military experience day; they were trained in Roman military drill techniques, tasted Roman food and tried on Roman armour, as well as learning about the everyday life of a Roman soldier in the province of Britannia.
