On 13 February, ten students took part in the UCL Schools debating competition, nine from the Lower Sixth and one from Year 10.

After three rounds of debating Fenton Davoren, Vara Gunananthan, Mominn Nawaz and Lilli Ganzer qualified to debate in the Novice Final, meaning that half of the students in the Novice Final were from Sevenoaks. They debated the following motion: This house believes that universities should strongly prioritise applications by people from their own country.

At the end of the competition Mominn and Lilli were named the best novice team. Fenton and Vara were third joint best novice team. Mominn was named the best novice speaker and third best speaker overall (something which is particularly impressive considering most of the other competitors were in the Sixth Form). Lilli was named second joint best novice speaker and Maddie Whiteley was named fifth best novice speaker.
