17The U14 Sevens side spent the Lent term training hard in preparation for the Kent Cup, but entered the competition unaware of the strength of their opponents.
The team were drawn against Cranbrook, Langley Park and Chislehurst and Sidcup in the groups stages and progressed quite comfortably after some excellent play in both attack and defence. In the quarter-finals, Sevenoaks faced Dartford Grammar and were tested severely winning with the last play of the game but ran out comfortable winners in the semi-final versus Skinners’.
The final was played against Wilmington Grammar School, a surprise finalist but full of top club players. The score line swung back and forth in the first half but some brilliant attacking tries in the second half allowed Sevenoaks to pull away and be crowned Kent Cup champions. Congratulations to all.
