Students enjoy a Social Enterprise Day

On Wednesday we held a Social Enterprise Day for the Lower Sixth aimed at developing ’21st century leaders’. This was a revamped program, focusing on the importance of businesses incorporating sustainability and social impact as an integral part of their business model. The students learnt about the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals, analysed companies in the market and their activities in this area, and then worked in teams to develop their own social enterprise. They then participated in a speed-pitching activity to a group of 42 parents, Governors and Trustee ‘Investors’ in which they pitched their idea, and then responded to Investor questioning. Feedback was that there was an abundance of amazing and feasible ideas developed in an extremely short period of time, and strong pitching skills were put on display throughout. Well done to all students, and thank you to all investors.
