Two Sevenoaks teams took part in the virtual final of the London Institute of Banking and Finance’s Student Investor Challenge. After being postponed due to coronavirus, the event was streamed live on 18 November on Youtube.

Out of 10,000 teams that entered the challenge, only seven made it to the finals – two of which were from Sevenoaks. The Student Investor Challenge gives students the chance to experience what it’s like to invest in stocks and shares. Teams, consisting of four members aged between 14 and 19, invest virtual money in the stock market to see who can get the best results.

Our teams were ‘3 and a Half Men’ consisting of Beksultan Issayev, Javier Fernandez Garcia, Lukas Grunzke and Trevor Igasta and ‘The Stockaholics’ consisting of Jemima Alston, Rose Spurling, Rosie Talbot, Lauren Allen.  In the final, each team gave a presentation on giving Investment advice using their knowledge of financial markets.

The Stockaholics were the only all-girl team in the final, finishing an impressive second place overall.

Well done to all students that took part.
