Distance learning
We have launched our remote learning PE curriculum and the pupils have really brought into it, sending some excellent videos to us of their efforts.
Jamie Cullen created the first fitness video from the department, which you can watch here. Further videos will follow, and we are planning to start regular live events.
Steve Brenchley has produced an online seminar and we are looking at creating interactive webinars. Watch here.
Cross country/Athletics
We are holding an inter-school Marathon Challenge on Saturday against Sutton Valence. The distance between Sevenoaks and Sutton Valence is roughly 26 miles and we aim to see how many ‘marathons’ can be completed.
Students will run, cycle or walk at home, completing a minimum 2.6km and submit their distances to the school using evidence of their distance such as running apps. We hope this will be a fun way to keep active, encouraging teamwork and effort in these difficult times. Best of luck to all.
Netball
Ellie Allen was awarded Most Outstanding Player (London Pulse – Kent Hub) at the London Pulse Netball Pathway Awards.
Rugby
Thomas Sarkesian (U6), the 1st XV captain, has been offered a place at University of California, Berkeley. He is held in high esteem for his rugby prowess and this played a huge part in gaining this outstanding achievement. Very few British students get into UC Berkeley to play rugby and this is an excellent achievement.
Riding
Charlotte Smith has organised a remote riding competition, which has been very popular and a resounding success. Pupils submitted videos of themselves competing at dressage and Charlotte marked them. Results as follows:
Novice
1st Lara and Flint 76%
2nd Abi and Minty 70.90%
3rd Rosie 70%
4th Lara and Ben 68%
PC100
1st Abi and Barney 78.80%
2nd Abi and Ronnie 75.40%
3rd Harry 68.50%
4th Rosie 66.90%
5th Anabelle 63.50%
Tennis
Congratulations to Oscar Brown (U6) on signing for the University of Portland. This is a scholarship at a division 1 tennis programme in the US – a hugely impressive offer.
