Football has a very strong tradition at Sevenoaks School and is one of our most popular Lent term sports for Middle and Upper School students. Lower School students also enjoy a competitive fixture list during the Michaelmas term.

With over 250 boys competing within regular fixtures from Year 7 to the Upper Sixth, football is one of our strongest sports. A total of 18 teams compete across the two terms and this helps to ensure that every pupil is given an equal opportunity to represent the school within competitive matches and tournaments.

Girls football is also growing year on year, with over 40 students participating and a side which competes against other schools and in county and national tournaments within the Michaelmas and Lent terms.

In addition, our excellent facilities (nine football pitches and two artificial pitches) and qualified coaches ensure that every pupil has the means to maximise their skills and fulfil their potential. Players are monitored during the season and 1st team players in particular are given strict training guidelines. Training sessions incorporate many aspects of the professional game which include specialist goalkeeping and tactical sessions as well as strength and conditioning programmes to help ensure that the students are fully aware of the aspects of the modern game.

Football involves hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, enjoyment.

Futsal has been introduced into the sports programme to develop individual skills. Pupils compete in an array of competitions and tournaments including many of our sides competing within SKIL (Sussex and Kent Independent Schools League), combined with numerous friendly matches.

These allow our students the chance to put all the training and advice from our coaches into practice. Alongside its incredibly busy fixture list, Sevenoaks also arranges a number of international tours, with our most recent including Villarreal Football Club and Valencia Football Club in which students learned about the duties of a professional footballer.
