Sevenoaks offers high quality coaching for boys and girls of all abilities. We put out seven Upper and Middle School teams and two Lower School teams each week. We also provide an extensive winter coaching programme including one-to-one sessions before school throughout the year, cricket academies in the Michaelmas term for the U13, U15 and U18 age groups, and squad training in the Lent term.

Cricket is a popular and thriving sport at Sevenoaks. Boys and girls of all abilities enjoy a professional and varied coaching programme throughout the year. Chris Tavaré, the former England, Kent and Somerset cricketer is the Master in Charge. David Smith (Invicta Cricket Coaching) runs our one-to-one programme and our Academy programmes.

Voted one of the Top 100 cricket schools in the UK by The Cricketer magazine

We have an extensive fixture card with the 1st XI having 16 matches ranging from T20 to all day matches, despite the cricket season coinciding with summer exams. In 2014 the 1st XI enjoyed a tour to Sri Lanka where they played against a high standard of opposition in a unique environment, and in 2017 the 1st XI toured Grenada. The U13, U14 and U15 teams participate in the Kent Cup competitions every year. Several of our students play for county or regional teams.

We are constantly looking to enhance opportunities for our pupils to both enjoy and achieve in the game.

Chris Tavaré, Master in charge of Cricket at Sevenoaks

The school has a proud and very long history of playing cricket. Old Sennockians in the cricketing world include England players Chris Tavaré (OS 1973) and Paul Downton (OS 1975), who was appointed Director of Cricket at Kent in January 2018. Natasha Farrant (OS 2014) was picked for the full England Women’s team in 2013 while still at school, taking 2 for 15 in her first T20 match. She is a member of the first group of England Women players to be given full-time contracts.
