Many congratulations to our Social Entrepreneurship Competition 2021 winners: Stickers on the EDGE by Isabella Hall, Rhea Nelson and Lucy Hudson.

Isabella, Rhea and Lucy’s enterprise involves designing and selling enamel pins and recycled paper stickers of evolutionary distinct, endangered species such as pangolins, Californian condors and angel sharks on Etsy and other platforms to raise money and awareness for respective charities.

This year’s Social Entrepreneurship Competition has been running since September, with the aim of encouraging as many students as possible to use their initiative to serve a specific cause within the local and wider community.

Six groups progressed through to the finals held on 29 June over Teams to compete for £200 to further support and fund their enterprise in front of four judges. Each finalist group presented for seven minutes, followed by three minutes of questions from the floor.

Participants were judged on nine criteria: problem solving, creativity and innovation, financial skills, self-management and resilience, communication, digital skills, profit made and leadership abilities. They were given regular feedback across the year on potential ways in which to improve their plans throughout the year to achieve the most successful and effective impact on the community.

A big thank you to all of the judges and all participants for your efforts and hard work across the year and we can’t wait to see how your social enterprises progress!

Gemma Griffiths, Damien Tay, and Emily Wooders, all L6 (student leaders of the Social Entrepreneurship Competition)
