On 9 May, we hosted the final of the social entrepreneurship competition with five student teams pitching their project to a team of external judges. Each group presented their ideas, covering aspects such as problem analysis, market analysis, financial planning, and social impact measurement. Following this, the groups answered questions from the judges and students present.

The judges selected two joint winners: Thrive, and Moulding Mindfulness. Each group will receive funds to invest into their project. Thrive offered a model for peer-peer coaching, empowering students across the school to connect and support their peers, enabling them to thrive at school and beyond. Moulding Mindfulness engaged students in pottery, promoting the value of mindful activities, whilst selling the items they created in support of the work of West Kent Mind. Congratulations also to Music for All, Peace Perspectives and We Inspire who all pitched their ideas in a persuasive way.

We were delighted to be joined by Phil and Dom Kwok, Founders of the Easy A Maths App which gives students on-demand access to a community of maths mentors, and Kate McAlpine, an organisational coach, and Founder of Citizens 4 Change, which is building a community of citizens in East Africa who build safe and inclusive communities for children and youth.

The student social entrepreneurship service team worked through students throughout the year to guide them through a process of developing their social entrepreneurship project from a simple idea to a wider sustainable plan for change.Thank you to all the students and staff who supported this year long journey, and a particular thank you to the judges for their support and feedback on the day.
