The Sevenoaks ski team returned to Les Deux Alpes on 13 December to compete in the Inter-Schools Ski and Snowboard Championships. This was the team’s second time in Les Deux Alpes and their fourth competitive appearance after the ISSSC, British Schoolgirls and Aiglon Cup ski racing events last year.
Making their racing debuts were Nico Chau, Tasha Dambacher and Anna Williams, all watching and learning from the more experienced racers including Jonah Sweidan, Seb Coddington, Nic Clinton, Moriz Forster, Charlotte Jairaj and Annabel Jairaj.
The two captains, Alex Huisman and Lara Gueorguieva, were outstanding in their leadership of the team, making sure everyone was prepped each day, taking the rest of the team through course inspections, and motivating and supporting every team member throughout the week. Alex and Lara made podium positions for both the Giant Slalom and Slalom races.
Overall the team represented the school impeccably, showing great sportsmanship and resilience in tough conditions, making great progress with their skiing and putting in some great racing performances, matching some of the bigger and more established ski teams from Whitgift, Cranleigh, Burgess Hill, Wycombe Abbey, Hurstpierpoint, Benenden, St Paul’s and KCS Wimbledon.
