Sevenoaks hosted a shoulder to shoulder match against Cambridge University Rifle Club last week. Cambridge has a fearsome reputation, and we have never come close to beating them in the past.
However, during the first two rounds they struggled to acclimatise to our new range layout. In the third round it looked as though a comeback might be in the offing, but thankfully, we held our nerve and made good use of our home advantage, with the Sevenoaks A team scoring 1492 and inflicting a defeat upon Cambridge (1456). Our B team was not far behind them either with a score of 1440.
There were fantastic performances from Gabriel Shaft and Cecilia Catuogno-Cal who sealed all the top rankings for us. Anastasia Spiridonova also put in a sterling performance leading our B team, closely followed by David Edmondson.
Our sincere thanks to Cambridge for making the effort to visit us; we very much look forward to next year!
