The Sevenoaks School Summer Programme turned virtual this year. We ran four, highly successful, online courses throughout July for students aged 13-18. Over 100 students from 30 different countries took part, joining from as close as Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells in the UK to as far afield as Kenya and Myanmar.
Students enjoyed courses in Critical Thinking and Social Leadership, key to our teaching at Sevenoaks. They took part in inspiring debates as they learned about bias, propaganda and ‘fake news’ and explored some of the many inequalities in society which have been highlighted by the pandemic. Working in groups they identified a range of social issues and devised ambitious but achievable methods for helping to drive change.
Feedback has been excellent with students describing their experience as ‘exhilarating’, ‘inspiring’ and ‘phenomenal’ and we are delighted that this year’s virtual Summer Programme worked so well.
Our full residential programme is planned as normal for summer 2021. More details can be found on the Summer Programme website.
