Yesterday, the school hosted the annual Spanish Debating competition that takes place among mainly private schools in South London and the South East. Sevenoaks School has a very good track record in this event, but unfortunately this year we made it only to semi-finals. Congratulations to Hampton School and Christ’s Hospital, who reached the finals, with Christ’s Hospital just winning the competition on a very minor difference. The competition will be held in their school next year. We were delighted to welcome Dr Gonzalo Capellán de Miguel who is the Consejero de Educación (Education Advisor) at the Spanish Embassy in London, and Ana Griñón who is the director of ALCE (Asocicación de Lenguas y Culturas Españolas). They were the adjudicators throughout the competition with other colleagues from different schools, but they also stayed until the very end to adjudicate in the final with Mrs Duran-Oreiro from our school and Oliver Peat from Wellington College.
